Valentine’s Day Lunch

Shirt: Ebay | Jeans: ROMWE | Lizzy’s dress: H&M | Cardigan: Asda | Boots: Clarks

Hello lovely people, I hope you have had a romantic and fun weekend! Our little family of 3 had an early Valentine’s Day lunch on Saturday at a restaurant called 1573 in Leicester, which I was really looking forward to, and the food didn’t disappoint!

I’ll start off with my look for the day and then talk about the food! This lip print shirt is one of my favourite ever tops and it was just so cheap from eBay, the only thing is it does get a bit static, so I use hairspray on it which seems to help (thanks Google for that tip!) I did plan on wearing my black slim treggings and black sandals as seen in this post, however as I wore the treggings to work in a nursery on Friday and spent most of the day on the floor with the little ones, they were too dirty to wear. As for the shoes, if you live in the UK you’ll know just how freezing the temperatures have been recently! So I decided to save my toes and wore my black River Island boots instead.

Lizzy doesn’t look too happy in these photos, she really isn’t one for posing is she?! Her red dragonfly print skirt is actually a summer dress, with a cardigan over it. These Clarks boots just go with everything and she wears them almost every single day!

Here is my hair and makeup closer up. For my hair I used a heat protection spray and curled it quickly using straighteners, just grabbing random sections, then set with a little hairspray. For my makeup I used the golden shades from my Urban Decay Naked Palette on the top lid, Rimmel Exaggerate liquid eyeliner and a brown eyeliner pencil under the bottom lashes. My lipstick is Elizabeth Arden Red Door Red, which is non-drying and feels comfortable on my lips. My vintage pearl necklace was a birthday gift from my husband last year.

I absolutely love my Lulu Guinness lips clutch. Of course I had to get it out for a Valentine’s Day outfit! My nail polish is Bluesky Hollywood Red and I added cute little gold heart studs, you can see my post about it here.

Now on to the food…

We had the Valentine’s Day set menu for £29.95 per person for 3 courses, which is not cheap but we hadn’t been out for a nice meal in a long time (McDonald’s and a quick pizza at Zizzi’s doesn’t really count!) so we wanted to treat ourselves. For Lizzy we ordered her fish fingers and chips which kept her happy, and Joseph had bbq baby back ribs, steak for his main course and the same dessert as me, which you’ll see below!

The starter I chose was smoked salmon blinis with soft cheese and black pepper. These were really yummy!

My main course was grilled sea bass fillets with lemon butter, served with cajun rice, vegetables and salad. This was lovely, tasty but not too overpowering. I didn’t quite finish the whole plate as I had to try Joseph’s steak, which was delicious!

Then finally the course I was looking forward to the most! I was already full but managed to eat two thirds of this scrumptious warm chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. Looking back at this makes me drool a little bit!

All in all a really lovely lunch spent with my two favourite people. This was slightly different to my usual posts but I hope you enjoyed it! How did you spend the Valentine’s weekend? By the way if you’d like to follow me on Instagram it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for reading 🙂 XO

Mother & Daughter Style: Floral Dresses

image

Hello lovely readers! I thought a Mother & Daughter outfits post was long overdue, and even though this one wasn’t planned I took the opportunity on a walk we went on last week to get my husband to take some shots for me (luckily we were actually wearing some decent outfits!)

It was such a beautiful day so we decided to go to a country park near where we live for a walk along the river. Lizzy and I both wore pretty floral dresses and jelly sandals!

What I Wore: Dress: ASOS (love this red floral maxi dress) | Sandals: Emma’s Mode | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

What Lizzy Wore: Dress: Gifted from Lizzy’s Godmother | Glitter Jelly Sandals: Next (similar)

I don’t have many red items in my wardrobe but I love this floral dress I purchased from ASOS at the beginning of the year. It’s so easy and comfortable to wear and the drop-waist gives it some shape. I also like how it is slightly longer at the back. These pinky-nude jelly sandals go with everything and add a little cuteness as well as a touch of bling! See up-close photos and a review of them here.

Lizzy’s dress is so sweet, I love the ditsy green and blue floral print and the frilly lace detail. The orange bow sets it off nicely and I put matching hair clips in her hair. I’m so pleased Lizzy’s hair is getting longer, I can’t wait to be able to plait it! The glitter jelly shoes are my favourite pair for Lizzy right now and she loves them too, she wants to wear them even when we’re just at home!

I’ll leave you with this view and a shot of the back of my dress, isnt the English countryside gorgeous? Thank you so much for visiting today! XO

Mother & Daughter Outfits: 80th Birthday Party

imageOn Sunday we went to a relative’s 80th birthday party and these were the outfits Lizzy and I wore, we quickly snapped these photos in front of my parents’ house before we headed to the party as we were running late. Please excuse the face she is pulling – she had raisins in her mouth! I actually didn’t intend to match our outfits but this is the only special occasion dress Lizzy has so I kind of had to dress her in it! It wasn’t quite warm enough to go sleeveless so I put a white cardigan over the dress. My pink lace top is so pretty and was only £4, it is see-through though so I have a vest on underneath. I love this floral midi pencil skirt and you can see how I styled it in another post here. My purple suede shoes are so old but I still really like them, I think they go perfectly with the skirt. I added my trusty leather biker jacket to add a bit of an edge. If you don’t own a black leather jacket, why not?! They are just so versatile.

The photo below shows the outfits in more detail, I shared this one on my Instagram, are you following me there? Lizzy’s dress has a cute bow on it and you can see how lovely my lace top is.
