Makeup Revolution Blush Palettes: Golden Sugar & Hot Spice

Hi guys, hope you’re well! I’ve been meaning to write this post for ages now, since I purchased these Makeup Revolution Blush Palettes a few months ago, and I’ve finally gotten around to doing it!

I was searching for a peachy blusher and came across the first palette, Hot Spice (pictured on the left) on the Superdrug website. As it was only £6 for the 8 shades of blusher, and it had a few peachy-apricot shades that I was looking for I thought it was a bargain – it works out to just 75p per blush! Then I noticed the second palette, Golden Sugar and immediately thought: ooh! and I couldn’t resist buying this too, especially after reading some raving reviews! No regrets, either.

The blushers in the Hot Spice Palette are warm-toned and contain a mix of matte and shimmery shades, a couple of which can be used as bronzer or to contour, and there is one highlighting shade. The swatches show the top row then the bottom row. I really like all of these blushers and have used every single one, but my favourite is the third one, a pretty corally-peach tone. I quite like the packaging too, it’s sleek, simple and sturdy.

The blushers in the Golden Sugar palette are so pretty! There is only one matte shade in the whole palette so if you aren’t a fan of shimmer on your cheeks then this one isn’t for you, but if you love to create soft, girly makeup looks then this would be perfect! I love the third shade in this palette too, it looks purple but on the skin it’s a beautiful soft pink. The highlighter is gorgeous too, I never used to highlight before but now I do almost every time I put makeup on, it just adds that bit of extra polish to your look. Oh, please excuse the unsightly vein on my arm in the photo!

The pigmentation and colour pay-off of these blushers are great, you can either use a little or build up the colour for more dramatic looks. I would totally recommend both of these palettes – they are such good value and great quality too.

Valentine’s Nails: Red with Gold Hearts

With just 4 days until Valentine’s Day, I had to paint my nails either pink or red, right? Since I’ll be wearing my red lips printed shirt (see my outfit and makeup for the day here), naturally I chose red, and added cute gold heart studs on my ring fingers. This gorgeous pillar-box red is a UV gel polish by Bluesky called Hollywood Red. I did my nails last night using my UV gel home kit (purchased from Amazon) and can be confident they won’t chip for over a week. The heart studs are from a pack from EBay and cost about £1! They took a few weeks to arrive though but it comes with various shapes and there is a lot in the pack.

My red lipstick shown is Revlon Really Red and the lip liner is Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner in Red Diva – these are the perfect match for my red nails!

Our little family of 3 are celebrating Valentine’s Day on Saturday with lunch at a restaurant we’ve wanted to visit for ages, I am so excited to spend some a quality time just the 3 of us, since the last few weekends were spent with other family!

What are your plans for the weekend? Or are you a last-minute decider? Thanks for reading! XO

My Valentine’s Day Outfit & Makeup

Shirt: Ebay | Shoes: Aldo (old, similar) | Clutch: Lulu Guinness (discontinued, garnet lips clutch here on sale! | trousers: H&M, old | Necklace: Vintage | Nail Polish: Avon Fire Cracker | Earrings: Aliexpress

Hi there! It’s been nearly two weeks since my last post, but I’m back! With only two weeks until Valentine’s Day, I’ve got my outfit sorted, have you? The actual plan for the day isn’t organised yet, but at least I know what I’ll be wearing haha! I still love my lip print shirt, which I wore in this post ages ago – I still can’t believe it cost less than £4 from eBay! Since it was shipped from China, I’m not sure it will arrive in time for this Valentine’s Day, but I think it’s a cute top to wear any time of the year. If you Google ‘red lips shirt’ lots of sellers sell the exact same shirt at different prices. I thought I’d keep the look simple and pair the shirt with black trousers and heels, then accessorize with my vintage pearl necklace and new rose gold bow and pearl earrings. The earrings are gorgeous and were so cheap but aren’t perfectly made – there’s a bit of glue showing on one pearl and the other isn’t stuck on straight but for the price I can live with it these little flaws! Finally of course I have to carry my red Lulu Guinness box clutch, which has the cutest quilted lips pattern and lip shaped clasp.

Now on to the makeup I plan to use for Valentine’s Day. Obviously I’ll wear red lipstick, there’s a definite theme to follow here! I’ll use golden tones for my eyes with a flick of liquid eyeliner, and bronzer on my cheeks.

  • Avon mineral foundation
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer
  • Rimmel Exaggerate waterproof liquid eyeliner
  • Brown eyebrow pencil (so old and not sure of the brand)
  • Guerlain bronzer
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette, shades Half Baked and Smog
  • Rimmel Exaggerate lip liner in Red Diva
  • Elizabeth Arden lipstick in Red Door Red

In other news, I’m back working two days a week as a supply teacher, it’s nice to be earning again after over two years at home with Lizzy, but I’m totally knackered!

Have you got your Valentine’s Day outfit sorted yet? It is a bit early I must admit! Thank you for reading xxx
