Lace Detail Jumper

I wore this outfit to take Lizzy to our local baby and toddler playgroup the other day which we try to go to twice a week.  I took these pictures while she napped after we got home, hopefully I’ll be able to include her in my next outfit post! But here are a couple of photos of her playing earlier that day:

What I wore:

The royal blue jumper is a great casual, everyday top that looks good with jeans but it’s lace panel adds interest. It’s from Yesstyle, this one is really cute too.  My skinny jeans (here) go with everything and I wear them all the time.  My black boots are a couple of years old from River Island, they are so comfortable (similar).  Here is a closer-up picture of them:

imageWhat Elizabeth wore:

Heart print top from H&M. This cardigan is really cute.  The striped skirt and boots are from Mothercare and the dotty bow hair clip that matched the colours of her top is from Ebay.  I love this striped dress from Gap.  One of the best things about having a girl is definitely the dressing up!

imageThis photo shows my makeup – it’s a simple and easy everyday look that I did using my Naked Palette and Rimmel Exaggerate liquid eyeliner. I polished off the look using a red lipliner and lipstick (YSL Rouge Volupte Shine no.4) .  I don’t wear foundation and prefer to just use concealer under my eyes and powder.  I might do a more in-depth post on my everyday makeup look, what do you think?  I didn’t do anything with my hair, I literally brushed it and that was it as my hair is naturally poker-straight.

imageThe jewellery I wore are some of my favourites – can you tell I love hearts and butterflies?  The gold earrings are from a trip to Dubai years ago, I adore them but they do jangle about a bit!  The necklace was a wedding gift from my parents which they bought in Hong Kong.  My mum asked me what kind of necklace I wanted and I said something with hearts or a butterfly and this is what they chose, and I absolutely love it.  It’s made from 3 tone gold which is really unique.

Cute and Easy Valentines Nails

imageimageWith Valentines Day a couple of weeks away many of us are planning our outfits and other details such as nails and makeup.  I thought I’d share a simple cute heart design for your nails that can be easily adapted to your liking, and you can have fun with this even if you’re coupled up or not!  I’d never done this kind of nail art before and was quite pleased at how it turned out.

The pink bow is my daughter’s hair clip which matched my nails so well I couldn’t resist taking a photo with it, and the little bear I’ve had since I was about 10, which I gave to my husband on one of our first ever Valentines Days over 10 years ago!

imageStep 1.  For the main colour I used Maybelline Super Stay gel nail colour in Pink in the Park.  This is a lovely pastel pink colour but I wouldn’t recommend this polish as I’ve found it doesn’t last long at all, let alone the 7 days it states on the bottle – it chipped after one day even with the top coat!  Maybe it’s just me though as I’ve read good reviews on it.

Step 2.  To create the little hearts on my ring fingers and thumbs I used Maxfactor Gel Shine Laquuer in Twinkling Pink.  This is a dark hot-pink and I really like it, also on its own.  I don’t own any nail art tools or anything and just used a cotton bud cut diagonally and used the pointed end, dipped into a drop of polish on a piece of paper.  A toothpick would also do the job, I think.  I did need to practice on a bit of paper first, practice makes perfect – especially using your non-dominant hand!

Step 3.  I applied Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat, which is my favourite top coat that I’ve tried.  Be careful and light-handed so as not to drag the colour of the hearts.

This Valentines Day my husband will be working all day and in the evening so we will go out somewhere with Lizzy, maybe for a nice lunch one of the days before the 14th, we haven’t planned where yet but I’m already looking forward to it!  What do you have planned?

I hope you enjoyed this post! xo

The Leibster Award

imageI’ve been nominated for something called the Leibster Award, which if you’re not a blogger you probably have no clue as to what this is.  To be honest I had never heard of it until a couple of days ago!  Basically it’s an award given to bloggers by bloggers, who answer questions from the person who nominated them, then they find new people to ask questions to.  It encourages people to discover new blogs to read and for bloggers to support each other.  It’s kind of like a chain letter (remember those?!)  Thanks to the lovely Miriam from Germany for nominating me!

These are the rules:

– First thank and mention the person who nominated you
– Then answer the questions they asked you
– Nominate up to 11 blogs that have 200 followers or less (this number is debatable)
– Think of 11 questions to ask your nominees
– And finally notify all the people you nominated

So here are my answers to Miriam’s questions:

1. What is your motivation to blog?  I’ve been reading blogs for years and I always turned to them for style and beauty inspiration.  When I was a teenager my dream job was to work for a fashion magazine, and I figured writing a style and beauty blog would sort of be like writing my own magazine!  It will also be a way for me to document some of my life events.  I hope to inspire a few people through my blog in some way.

2. Your biggest weakness is..?  This is a tough question!  I guess I’m slightly materialistic.  Is that a weakness?

3. How do you deal with stress?  Talking to my husband always helps, as does sitting down with a cup of tea.  Also watching television as a distraction!

4. What is your current job?  I’m currently a full-time mother, if you call that a ‘job’!  I worked as a primary school teacher before I had my daughter.  Elizabeth is 17months old and such a cutie.  Being a stay-at-home mum is hard but I wouldn’t change it for the world, I love spending every minute with her and watching her develop every day.

5. Do you have a life goal? Which one, why not?  To be still happily married with two (or three!) children, living in a beautiful characterful detached house in the countryside.

6. Your favourite fashion item is?  This has to be my Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch because it’s a cute yet classy, timeless, versatile bag and goes with most outfits.

7. What would you mark as a ‘fashion-fail’?  Leggings with short tops that don’t cover your bum.  I cringe every time I see that!

8. Who is your fahionable idol?  Not very original but Olivia Palermo always looks amazing.

9. How would you describe yourself in 5 words?  Hmm… Reliable, patient, shy, (sometimes) stylish, and a bit lazy!

10. Which piece of clothing should be banned from our world?  Harem pants/trousers, I just don’t get them!

11. How would you describe your own style?  Probably girly-casual-chic, most days.

There you have it, now you know a little bit more about me 🙂

My nominees are: My friend NicholaStella, Madeline, Katelyn, Jessica, Nicki

My questions to you lovely ladies are:

1. How long have you been blogging for and how much time do you devote to blogging each week?

2. What is your favourite holiday destination?

3. What make-up product could you not live without?

4. What’s your favourite item of jewellery?

5. What’s your favourite item of clothing/accessory that you wear again and again?

6. Who’s style do you admire?

7. Which season is your favourite and why?

8. Do you have a signature dish that you cook?

9. What’s your favourite dessert?

10.  Positively describe yourself in 5 words.

11.  Name 3 places you’d love to visit in the next 5 years.

Thanks for reading! XO
