My Christmas Wish List

With just one month to go, and all the Christmas adverts are on in full swing, it’s time to get into the festive spirit! I’ve already done half of my Christmas shopping (mostly online – I’ve been quite organised this year) and I’ve been thinking about all the things that I would like to receive! So here it is, my ultimate Christmas Wish List…

image

A DSLR Camera

Of the research that I’ve done, this Nikon D3300 seems to be the best entry-level DSLR to get (at the right price for us), and if I’m a good girl this wish might actually come true! Until now, I’ve been using my iphone for photos, which I dropped and broke last week and so have been using my mum’s old Samsung phone which doesn’t have the best camera! I can’t wait to start taking decent quality pictures both for my blog and for personal photos, especially of my daughter.

Classic Camel Coat

I’ve wanted one of these for a couple of years now, just a simple, beautiful, timeless wool camel coat like this one. But this year I’ll have to make do with coats from previous years.

Pretty Statement Necklace

I can’t believe I don’t own a statement necklace yet, they are absolutely everywhere. I’m more of a dainty jewellery kind of girl but I would love to receive something like this one from Next (hint hint family members who are reading this!) I love the gold toned chain and the pretty pastel coloured gems.

image

Travel Makeup Palette

I would be so happy if I got this palette by Dior for Christmas! It contains the most gorgeous shades that can create so many different looks, and would streamline my travel makeup bag. The zip-up case is beautiful too.

Chunky Cream Cable Knit Jumper

These seem to never go out of style and this one looks so cosy – I do love a good oversized jumper. I can just imagine wearing it with skinny jeans and my red Hunter boots for a casual look. I have to resist buying it though because I’ve just ordered a couple of jumpers that I’m waiting patiently to arrive!

image

Berry Heeled Boots

I’ve begun to realise that writing this wish list was probably not the best idea – I seriously want these boots! They look comfortable and smart, and are such a beautiful colour, love them! I’ll have to hope they don’t sell out and I’ll be looking out for them in the sales.

So that’s my Christmas Wish List, done! Which of these items are now on yours?

Thanks for reading! XO

How To Create a Vintage Style Bedroom: 5 Key Items

image

I have always loved vintage style decor. When I think of the word ‘Vintage’ I imagine soft colours, romantic floral designs, embroidery, lace, and distressed furniture and frames. I recently moved house and so had the perfect opportunity to decorate the rooms exactly how I wanted. We’re currently working on the living room but our bedroom and Lizzy’s room are completed and I’m so pleased with the results. Next time I’ll share a room tour of Lizzy’s bedroom, but today I wanted to write a post about how to create a vintage style bedroom.

I think if you have quite plain furniture and a neutral or light colour scheme you can easily and affordably create a lovey vintage theme, with only five key items. The more of some of these items you have, the more impact they will have.

image

One

Framed vintage prints – these don’t necessarily have to be of flowers, but I love anything floral and picked these up from a car boot sale in the summer for £10 for the three! It’s too cold for car boot sales now but you’ll find lots of vintage prints in antique/vintage shops near you (don’t forget to haggle!) or take a look on Ebay. It was my husband’s idea to hang the frames with the two at the sides lower down and I have to admit they look great like this! My beautiful satin shimmer wallpaper is from Graham and Brown (here).

Two

Ivory Embroidered duvet set – I’ve never had such a plain duvet set as this one, but I knew I wanted a white or ivory set with pretty vintage-inspired details on it, and this one (c/o) is perfect. It’s from Wayfair.co.uk (here) – I just adore the gorgeous embroidery and lace detail. For a vintage look you could alternatively have a soft floral (you can’t go wrong with florals!) or patchwork duvet set if you prefer not to have a plain one.

Three

Pretty floral cushion – This one (c/o) adds a pretty finishing touch to my bed. You can find it here and it’s also from Wayfair.co.uk. I chose the mint green option to match my curtains and wallpaper but there are some other stunning colours to choose from. Isn’t the pom pom trim so cute? You could add extra cushions for a cosier effect.

Four

Chandelier – Chandeliers are such a classic and they look so elegant and stylish. Choose one that has gold or distressed details with glass droplets for a vintage effect. I’m so happy to finally own my very first chandelier, I’ve wanted one for years! Mine (c/o) is very affordable and again it’s from Wayfair.co.uk (here). It looks so lovely with my cream furniture and I love the distressed gold-brushed effect.

Five

Gold framed mirror – These add a beautiful vintage look to any room. The large mirror pictured used to hang in my living room but it looks fantastic above my chest of drawers. I’ve had it for years and purchased it from a second hand shop for £40. The long full-length mirror on the left was from a car boot sale which I got for the insane price of £3.50! For more of an impact display your photos in vintage style gold frames, mine was 80p, again from a car boot sale!

So these are the five key items that I feel would help to transform your bedroom into a vintage-inspired theme. Of course you can add accessories here and there for a more cohesive look over time, such as old trinket dishes (like my one which I shared on Instagram here), shabby chic storage boxes, and glass vases.

I don’t buy everything second hand, but if you want to find real vintage items, here are some tips below:

Tips: Visit antique/vintage shops, charity and second hand shops, you never know what hidden treasures you may find! In the summer, car boot sales are a gold mine when it comes to picking up bargain true vintage finds – there are always people having a good clear-out. Don’t be afraid to haggle, even if the price seems reasonable! However if you prefer to shop online then eBay is your best friend!

I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading! XO

This post was written in collaboration with Wayfair.co.uk but all thoughts are my own.

Ciate Wait Until Dark

I love this shade of deep purple with a subtle shimmer. It’s just perfect for Autumn/Winter. I got it free with a magazine a few years ago and since I only used it a couple of times its still good to use. It seems to be discontinued but I found a couple of similar shades here and here.

Thanks for stopping by today lovely readers! XO
