How to dress up a Slogan T-shirt

 T-shirt | Skirt | Shoes

Slogan t-shirts are everywhere right now, and there are endless ways to wear them, from super casual to dressy. I thought I’d share one way in which to dress up this cute slogan t-shirt from New Look. Actually this whole outfit is from New Look! (apart from the bag which I borrowed from my sister) I love how their stuff is so on trend yet affordable.

Step 1. Pencil skirt – I think this midi style is so feminine and flattering. A plain brightly coloured one or a floral skirt would also look great. (See my floral midi pencil skirt outfit here)

Step 2. Add pointed heels. I’ve been looking for an affordable pair of leopard print pointy heels for ages and these are only £19,99! I needed to buy heel grips for these as my heels kept slipping out, anyone else have that problem?

Step 3. Add a cute bag. For a night out I prefer small bags that still have enough room for all the essentials, this one was borrowed from my sister and has a cute silver star detail.

It’s as easy as that! Looking back at the outfit I realise I probably should have worn more accessories, I was wearing my pearl stud earrings but you can’t see them in the photos. A statement necklace would have looked great although I’m more of a dainty jewellery kind of girl.

Above are a couple of pictures of the details – the lip liner I used is Rimmel Exaggerate Diva Red and the lipstick is my favourite red: Elizabeth Arden Red Door Red.

How To Do My Quick Everyday Makeup Look

imageAs a busy mum I don’t always have much time to apply makeup, but when I can I like to make a bit of effort if I have 10-15 minutes while Lizzy is happily playing by herself.  This is my everyday, quite subtle makeup look that I tend to do a lot.  Read on to find out which products I used and how I achieved the look…

Face: After applying eye and face cream I used Revlon Colourstay concealer in Medium Light under my eyes and a little on any blemishes, patting it gently using my ring finger. I don’t use foundation as I like being able to see my freckles! Plus I feel just using powder is enough to blur any flaws and evens out my skin tone enough without looking too ‘done’. The powder I use at the moment is Maybelline 24hr Colour Stay Waterproof Powder in Sand.

Eyes: I used three colours from my Urban Decay Naked Palette.  First, using the brush that came with the palette I blended Toasted over my eyelids and up to halfway to my eyebrows, following the shape of my eyes.  Using the same brush I then applied Hustle to the outer third of my lids, blending the colour inwards, and also applied a little under my lower lashline.  I used my ring finger to apply a little of the colour Virgin under my brow bone and blended it downwards. If I’m not in a hurry I like to use a liquid eyeliner but if I’m trying to be quick I’ll use a pencil, as I did here, because if I mess up a little I can just use a small brush and smudge the liner a bit and it will make it look smokey and intentional!  I used Elizabeth Arden eyeliner in Gunmetal, which is a dark grey, but I sometimes use black.  I applied the liner along the outer third of my upper lashline, bringing it out to a point, then to two-thirds of my lower lashline. After this I curled my eyelashes using Boots No.7 eyelash curlers and applied Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black.  I filled in my eyebrows using Media brow pencil in brown (not sure if this is still available), which I think looks quite natural.

Cheeks: For a natural rosy flush I used Clinique Blusher in Smouldering Plum, sweeping it across my cheekbones. Even if I don’t use any eyeshadow on days I literally have two minutes to get ready, I always use blusher or a bronzer to give me a bit of colour to stop me from looking a bit ill!

Lips: First I applied Vaseline Rosy Lips, then one of my favourite lipsticks – Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, which is such a pretty, slightly shimmery, easy to wear peachy pink.

10 Favourite Beauty Products

image

Hello there!  For my first beauty related post, I thought I’d share 10 of my favourite beauty products.  I don’t buy a huge amount of makeup and I’m quite careful about what I buy as I hate wasting money on ‘experimental’ items, and the things I do purchase tend to last a long time.  I like both high street and luxury brands, and most of the time I really don’t see much of a difference in the quality or performance of the products, just nicer packaging!

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette – the original and arguably the best.  I haven’t tried the other Naked Palettes but I LOVE this one. Yes it’s expensive at £37 but the shadows are a great quality, long-wearing and I can create so many different looks, ranging from barely there natural to dramatic and smokey.  I have used all the colours but my favourites are: Virgin for highlighting the brow bone; Half Baked and Smog for an everyday neutral golden-brown look; and Toasted with Hustle for a smokey mauve look that’s a slight variation to the usual brown/grey smokey eye.

2. Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black – just a great value, all-round mascara which I keep repurchasing.  I don’t know about you, but some mascaras, especially ones that aren’t waterproof make my curled lashes wilt downwards, a big boo-boo!  So when I find mascaras that hold the curl I tend to stick to what I know.

3. Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait – this is a gorgeous peachy colour with a subtle gold shimmer.  It’s so wearable and feels lovely and soft on my lips.

4. Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in Smoldering Plum – I bought this with a gift voucher a couple of years ago.  It’s a beautiful medium pinky colour and gives a natural healthy colour to my cheeks and I use it all the time.

5. Rimmel Salon Pro Kate nail polish in Disco Fever – this bright purple colour is one of my favourites and the formula of the polish is really good.  I think it’s the Lycra in it, which helps the colour to stay on for about 6 days without chipping or peeling!

6. Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat – this makes nail polishes super shiny and helps them to stay put for longer, and dries relatively quickly too.

7. Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner this is easy to use, the brush is great, you can get a perfect point and it lasts all day, oh and it’s reasonably priced – what more could you want in a liquid eyeliner?!

8. Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me – a fantastic lip balm with a natural hint of colour and shine that’s perfect for days you don’t want to wear lipstick.  Makes my lips really soft, smooth and it smells yummy!

9. Superdrug Shine Control Papers – I always carry these around with me rather than a compact powder as I don’t like the idea of the pad absorbing all the oil (yuck!). These are brilliant as you just rip one sheet out, dab it over your t-zone and voila! Looks like freshly applied powder again.

10. Guerlain Terracotta Light Summer Bronzing Powder  – this is expensive but I purchased it a few years ago and I still love it so much, isn’t the packaging beautiful? It has a subtle shimmer and gives a natural-looking glow.
