How To Do My Quick Everyday Makeup Look

imageAs a busy mum I don’t always have much time to apply makeup, but when I can I like to make a bit of effort if I have 10-15 minutes while Lizzy is happily playing by herself.  This is my everyday, quite subtle makeup look that I tend to do a lot.  Read on to find out which products I used and how I achieved the look…

Face: After applying eye and face cream I used Revlon Colourstay concealer in Medium Light under my eyes and a little on any blemishes, patting it gently using my ring finger. I don’t use foundation as I like being able to see my freckles! Plus I feel just using powder is enough to blur any flaws and evens out my skin tone enough without looking too ‘done’. The powder I use at the moment is Maybelline 24hr Colour Stay Waterproof Powder in Sand.

Eyes: I used three colours from my Urban Decay Naked Palette.  First, using the brush that came with the palette I blended Toasted over my eyelids and up to halfway to my eyebrows, following the shape of my eyes.  Using the same brush I then applied Hustle to the outer third of my lids, blending the colour inwards, and also applied a little under my lower lashline.  I used my ring finger to apply a little of the colour Virgin under my brow bone and blended it downwards. If I’m not in a hurry I like to use a liquid eyeliner but if I’m trying to be quick I’ll use a pencil, as I did here, because if I mess up a little I can just use a small brush and smudge the liner a bit and it will make it look smokey and intentional!  I used Elizabeth Arden eyeliner in Gunmetal, which is a dark grey, but I sometimes use black.  I applied the liner along the outer third of my upper lashline, bringing it out to a point, then to two-thirds of my lower lashline. After this I curled my eyelashes using Boots No.7 eyelash curlers and applied Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black.  I filled in my eyebrows using Media brow pencil in brown (not sure if this is still available), which I think looks quite natural.

Cheeks: For a natural rosy flush I used Clinique Blusher in Smouldering Plum, sweeping it across my cheekbones. Even if I don’t use any eyeshadow on days I literally have two minutes to get ready, I always use blusher or a bronzer to give me a bit of colour to stop me from looking a bit ill!

Lips: First I applied Vaseline Rosy Lips, then one of my favourite lipsticks – Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, which is such a pretty, slightly shimmery, easy to wear peachy pink.

Glittery Red & Gold Valentines Nails

If you haven’t yet decided on how to paint your nails for Valentines Day, how about a glittery red and gold combo?  The hearts are optional of course but I think they add a cute touch.

imageThe products I used:

Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Colour in Gold on my ring fingers (three thin coats).

China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the rest of my nails (three thin coats). This is a gorgeous rich red with a lovely sparkle.

The method I use to create the little hearts are probably not the best, but it worked for me! If you have nail art tools then great, but if like me you don’t then you can try a toothpick or I used the sharp end of half of a cotton bud stick!

Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat for protection and shine.

If you don’t have time to buy the polishes I used but have similar colours already you can still create the same kind of look, or mix it up and try pink and white, or pink and red, just have fun!
